British home grown flowers are becoming more and more popular, therefore I thought I would write a blog/guide of what flowers you can usually get hold of in a particular season. These are not all the blooms that florists can access as we use wholesalers that purchase flowers from the big Holland markets which have sellers across the globe. However, I also use British growers and it's important to celebrate our beautiful homegrown flowers too, so without further ado, here is a list of flowers available in the different seasons:
Winter and Early Spring
Anemone
Lily-of-the-valley
Freesia
Hellebore
Narcissus (Daffodils)
Ranunculus
Pussy willow
Tulip
Late Spring and Early Summer
Allium
Alstroemeria
Astrantia
Cornflower
Clematis
Delphinium
Foxglove
Gypsophila
Iris
Lavender
Lily
Nigella
Peony
Poppy
Rose
Stock
Sweet Pea
Sweet William
Late Summer and Autumn
Agapanthus
Aster
Chrysanthemum
Cosmos
Crocosmia
Dahlia
Eryngium
Hydrangea
Hypericum
Love-lies-bleeding
Phlox
Scabiosa
Snapdragon
Statice
Strawflower
Sunflower
Zinnia
This list gives a rough guide of availability of British blooms available by seasons, of course flowers can cross more than one season, for example as I'm writing this in late October I still have some roses flowering in the garden and have the last few cornflowers.
If you're looking for UK flowers get in touch as we can access these as well as other beautiful blooms from across the water.
Thank you for reading!
